No Bids in the Arctic Refuge!
No bids in the Arctic Refuge. The 2nd required bid for leases in the Arctic Refuge was supposed to be held on January 10, 2025, instead we celebrated no bids! Inupiaq, Gwich’in and allies gathered in front of Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (AIDEA). AIDEA was the main bidder in the 2021 lease sale and has made many investments into extractive and harmful industry on indigenous lands in Alaska. We think they’re catching on that this is not only bad business but not wanted by the Indigenous Peoples of the land.
